Covid travel restrictions are still in place, but this may be worthwhile for the 2021 dates. Delta and United are currently waiving change fees. Hawaii travel restrictions have recently been extended into October. Their original plan was to allow travelers with a negative PCR test to enter without a quarantine period.

Beginning September 1, all travelers arriving in Hawaii from out-of-state will be required to get a valid COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) within 72 hours of boarding their flight to Hawaii, and to show proof of a negative test result upon arrival at the airport, to avoid the 14-day quarantine. The FDA-approved NAAT test from a CLIA-certified laboratory will need to be done prior to arrival. No testing will be provided upon arrival at the airport.

Change fees are being waived and carry-on bag is allowed for free. You can avoid paying for seat selection by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.
