Amex has recently increased the welcome offer for several of the co-branded Delta SkyMiles.

Here is the list of the current offers:

• Delta SkyMiles® Gold: 65,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 6 months of card membership.
• Delta SkyMiles® Platinum: 85,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $4,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 6 months of card membership.
• Delta SkyMiles® Reserve: 95,000 Bonus Miles after you spend $6,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 6 months of card membership.

These cards have annual fees:

• Delta SkyMiles® Gold: $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $150. See Rates and Fees
• Delta SkyMiles® Platinum: $350. See Rates and Fees
• Delta SkyMiles® Reserve: $650. See Rates and Fees

Our personal opinions about this offer:

• Delta allows for point transfers from the American Express cards (Green, Gold, Platinum) that earn Amex Membership Rewards®. You’ll have more flexibility on your point redemptions with the American Express® Green Card which has an annual fee of $150 instead of the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card. For example, you can transfer Amex Membership Rewards® points to Delta at a 1:1 basis or you can transfer to several other airlines like British Airways, ANA, or Virgin.
• However, if Delta is your main airline, then there are several perks with these cards that are worth noting: The main one being 15% off when using miles to book Award Travel on Delta flights through delta.com and the Fly Delta app. The other worthwhile perk is the free first-checked-bag perk.

There are a few things to point out about this deal:

• Historically, this is not the highest welcome offer we’ve seen for the card, it is about -5,000 points lower than the previous high (February-2024).

• You can check your application status online via this link.

• Amex will likely deny your application if you have more than 5 or more Amex cards, or 10 or more cards total.

• This welcome offer isn’t available if you have received a welcome bonus for any other Marriott card within the past 24-months.

• If you get denied and you have good credit, call their reconsideration hotline: 877-399-3083 (if you are a new account holder) Calling may not change the outcome, but there is a chance it will. You’ll also be able to get better insight in why your application was denied.
